On World Obesity Day 2026, which takes place on March 4th, MEPs for Action on Obesity is hosting a high-level discussion in the European Parliament, bringing together policymakers, health experts, patient representatives and key stakeholders to foster European and international awareness and collaboration.
The event will focus on obesity as a chronic disease and a gateway to other non-communicable diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer. Discussions will highlight the rising cost of inaction on obesity, the need for integrated and collaborative approaches to improving health, and the importance of coordinated EU and national action to drive prevention, diagnosis and care.
